This evening our network was interrupted for a while because one of our core-locations for routing had a power outage. The whole datacenter went down, which means some of our corerouters and switches went down because of no power. It affected a lot internet service providers in and outside the Netherlands. This is also seen on the public AMS-IX traffic graph

We are investigating why our second core-location did not takeover our network traffic. We think the reason is a broken fiber, but are not 100% sure about this and will continue our investigating during the coming day. This because we need local datacenter staff to test the fiber connection with special equipment.
We will update our clients the coming days about the situation, and once we know the reason we will test the redundant location. To prevent this issue will 'NEVER' (ever) happen again.

We are having a serious network issue on one of their international lines, we do our utmost best to have it solved asap. the expected time is 120 minutes now. our apologies for the inconvenience.

Vandaag ondervonden we een zeer merkwaardig probleem op een van onze DNS servers.
De server met problemen is een high-end machine waarbij alles dubbel uitgevoerd is, dubbele voeding, harddisken, netwerk enz.
Om de een of andere duistere reden is deze machine vanochtend spontaan gereboot, waarom is niet duidelijk en wordt momenteel onderzocht.
Na de herstart wilde de machine niet booten, de reden daarvoor is te belachelijk voor woorden en zou bij een machine van deze klasse NOOIT mogen gebeuren. De machine vroeg namelijk om op de F1 toets te drukken.....
